Behind the scenes of my photoshoot with Marion Saupin: inspiration, advice and results
To showcase my contemporary concrete jewelry , I knew I needed images that tell a story, that convey both the strength and poetry of my creations. That's how I called on Marion Saupin , a photographer specializing in fine crafts. Together, we imagined and produced a professional photo shoot that gave birth to a series of images faithful to my world. Today, I'm taking you behind the scenes of this collaboration, between shared inspirations, practical advice and visual results.
1. Meeting of universes: inspiration & aesthetic affinities
I discovered Marion's personal work at an exhibition shortly before our photo shoot. Some of her pieces immediately struck me: they resonated with my world through their composition, their lighting, and their graphic sensibility.
When we met, it was clear: we spoke the same visual language. This common ground allowed us to quickly build a solid artistic direction, with a mutual trust that facilitated each step.
2. A well-established collaboration: team, location and model
a) Location & atmosphere
The shoot took place in Marion's studio, a space that was both warm and inviting, perfectly suited to precise work on lighting and staging. This intimate atmosphere helped create natural and powerful images.
b) The model
Marion suggested I work with Iris, a woman with a slightly androgynous physique and striking charisma—exactly what I was looking for. Her presence gave depth to the images and highlighted my jewelry without ever stealing the show. On the day of the shoot, Iris impressed me because she knew exactly what poses to strike to highlight my jewelry.
c) Professionalism and fluency
What also impressed me was the fluidity of the work on the day. Marion managed the lighting, advised on poses, and showed me the images on the computer in real time. This allowed us to immediately adjust what needed to be adjusted and quickly achieve the desired result.
3. Inspirations at work: artistic direction & creation
Before the session, Marion asked me to share my visual inspirations. So I selected from her own works those that most closely reflected my world. She also sent me images to check that they corresponded to what I expected. This artistic dialogue helped create total coherence between the light, the textures, the choice of model, and the staging.
His choice of angles, framing and decorations reflect our shared vision: to highlight the geometric lines, contrasting materials and sculptural dimension of my jewelry.
4. Practical tips to remember for a successful shoot
Through this experience, I have identified several key points that I recommend to any craftsman or creator wishing to organize a professional photo shoot:
- Choose a photographer who understands your world : shared sensitivity facilitates communication and the final result.
- Work in a comfortable and controlled place , conducive to concentration and creativity.
- Select your model carefully : a face or presence that matches your creations will enhance the visual impact.
- Validate images as you go to adjust details in real time.
- Clarify photo credit terms from the start, so you can use images with complete peace of mind across all your media.
5. Results & impact of the shooting
Marion gave me a selection of around a hundred photos. I chose 45 for my jewelry — covering my six collections ( Laetitia , Bulle , Inès , Justine , Paloma and Patti ) — and 6 portraits of myself that I am particularly proud of.
The images perfectly reflect the visual strength of my creations: play of light, contrasting materials, balance between minimalism and expressiveness.
This shoot not only reinforced the visual coherence of my website and social media, but it also gave new impetus to my communication. I used the photos for my business cards, for my eShop (home banner and product sheets), and will use them for my various social media (Instagram, LinkedIn).
Conclusion
This collaboration with Marion Saupin and Iris was much more than a simple photo shoot: it was an artistic encounter, a resonance of our sensibilities.
I can't wait to repeat the experience for a future series, this time focusing on my work in the studio and the creation of my jewelry.
